All government officials should display professionalism

Dear Editor

There is no doubt that President David Granger is serious about providing a good life for all Guyanese, however there are elements within his administration who need to be weeded out and replaced with decent, competent, professional and tolerant people. There is no place for those who are power drunk and bent on unprofessional conduct; Guyana needs honest, sincere and impartial people who can make this promising nation rise and take its rightful place in our world. Every Guyanese needs to be the ears and eyes of our government and speak out when wrong things are taking place, as well as give praise when it is deserved. This administration is one that is led by a decent President and Prime Minister and a group of hard-working ministers, and every step must be taken to ensure the smooth flow of governance.

For too long we have had tit for tat politics, and this has caused untold pain, division and underdevelopment; that is why Guyanese have renewed their faith and trust in an APNU+AFC administration to take this country forward, and in order to achieve the task of nation-building everyone including the opposition must play a meaningful part.

In recent times there have been bitter experiences with some junior government officials who are bent on an agenda to discredit the work of this coalition government, and this must not be taken lightly. All government officials must be held accountable and display the sense of professionalism and decency that comes with administering a country.

As we look to cement our development and build our economy let us support our government’s efforts and work together to achieve a better life for all Guyanese.

Yours faithfully,
Andre Fortune
