Man reprimanded for damaging wife’s property

“I’m glad I didn’t follow the devil and try and hit her,” were the words uttered by Randolph Howard, 67, when he appeared in a city court, where he pleaded guilty to damaging his wife’s property.
Howard, who is partially blind, of Lot 46 West Front Road, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Wednesday on the charge that he damaged a stove, a bowl and a spoon, belonging to his wife Denise, on September 5 at their residence.

The pensioner pleaded guilty to the charge.

According to the prosecution, the couple got into an argument and Randolph became annoyed and damaged the items mentioned in the charge.

The man told the court that he loves his wife very much and since being married to her for 43 years nothing of such a nature had occurred before.

He further stated that he bought another stove and apologised to his wife.

The Chief Magistrate subsequently told him to live in peace and harmony with his wife and be careful that the act does not occur again. He was later reprimanded and discharged.
