A pensioner was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was taken after he fell while walking in the vicinity of the Teleperfomance call centre at Camp and Robb streets yesterday.
The dead man has been identified as Fitz Alexander Carmichael, 81, of 205/206 Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was seen walking on the sidewalk around 3pm when he fell and never regained consciousness.
Many flocked the area after the discovery and persons tried to make contact with relatives of the deceased after finding his phone.
The man stayed on the roadside for approximately 20 minutes before being picked up by an ambulance.
A post-mortem examination is to be conducted to determine the cause of his death.
