What is the rationale behind the suspension or firing of West Indies coaches immediately preceding a series? Gibson was fired immediately before the last Bangladesh visit, Simmons was suspended immediately before the latest Sri Lanka tour for an offence for which a fine or some reprimand would have been appropriate, and now fired immediately before this tour of Pakistan.
You would have to conclude that the board does not consider coaching as significant, although all other cricket countries seem really preoccupied with it.
There are several other issues, like the relations between board and players, selection policy, employment of a sports psychologist and such matters with which this board is unwilling to deal.
Caricom and fans want to dissolve the WICB, but are there people interested in international cricket in the region who think differently from those in power?
If there are such people they should try to get themselves elected so that they can restructure the board, since the dissolution solution will almost certainly reach the court of last resort before it is resolved, and we`re talking a lot of years.
