There should be a traffic policeman at the EB Public Road and School Street junction

Dear Editor,

I wish to highlight the current situation as it prevails at the junction of the East Bank Public Road and School Street, Peters Hall. In the past, I have recalled seeing a Traffic Officer placed at this junction during the hours of 7:00hrs onwards. This was very helpful in allowing for the orderly flow of traffic coming from the upper East Bank and Georgetown.

However, since school reopened in September, I have not seen this Traffic Officer once at this junction. The Peters Hall Primary School is situated in the School Street, where numerous children commute by walking, and have to cross the East Bank Public Road to get there. Anyone who lives on the East Bank can attest to the traffic congestion that has become a daily part of life for us home owners in this area.

Without the Traffic Officer at this time and also at 15:00 hrs when school is dismissed, it is near impossible for these primary school students to cross this road,

as very rarely would a driver stop for them to do so.

I am kindly requesting that the relevant authority urgently consider assigning a Traffic Officer to this location during the hours of 7:00hrs to 08:30hrs and 14:00hrs to 15:00hrs, Monday to Friday.

Yours faithfully,
