Market vendor dies in Amelia’s Ward crash

An early morning accident along the Amelia’s Ward Public Road, Linden has left a market vendor dead and four others including her mother and two children injured after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a minibus.

Dead is twenty-eight-year-old Toushana Frank,

a vendor of the Mackenzie Market and of Lot 20 Cinderella City, Amelia’s Ward, Linden.  Those injured are Frank’s two children, Darnelle Frank, four, and ten-year-old Jamica Chan, their grandmother, Paula Taylor, and Royston Telford, 57, the President of the Linden Road Safety Association who resides at Industrial Area, Mackenzie, Linden.

They victims were all rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex where Toushana was pronounced dead on arrival. One of her children and Telford were treated and sent away while the other child and Taylor were admitted. Taylor whose condition was listed as critical was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

According to reports reaching Stabroek News, Taylor, who was driving motorcar PSS 6725 was proceeding north along the public road when she apparently lost control of the vehicle and collided with the Route 43 minibus, BTT 766 which was heading in the opposite direction and was driven by Telford.

Following his discharge, Telford was taken to the police station to assist the police with investigations which are ongoing.
