President expresses condolences on passing of ACP Persaud

President David Granger has expressed sadness at the passing on Tuesday of Assistant Commissioner of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), Balram Persaud.

A release from the Ministry of the Presidency on Tuesday extended condolences to his widow Christine Persaud, children, Andrea, Andre, Arjune, Krishna and Sephora and other family and friends. The sentiments were also extended to the Commissioner of Police, Officers and members of the GPF.

As Assistant Commissioner, the release said that Persaud acted as Police Commissioner whenever the substantive office holder was on leave or overseas on official business and attended meetings of the National Security Committee in the absence of the Commissioner. His advice and input was always valued, the release added.

Persaud passed away at the Woodlands Hospital after a vehicular accident on February 5th, 2016.
