GRA places ad for Commissioner General

Nearly two months after former Commissioner General Khurshid Sattaur was axed, the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) yesterday advertised for a replacement and a deputy.

In an advertisement in the Kaieteur News, the GRA invited applications. The acting Commissioner General is Ingrid Griffith.

The GRA ad said that the required qualifications are a professional accounting/auditing designation and a Master’s degree in taxation, business administration, economics, information technology or law.

Applicants should also possess a minimum of 15 years’ experience in tax and customs administration with a minimum of eight years at the executive level.

Experience in organisational management or other aspects of public administration would be an asset.

Required qualifications for the Deputy were the same.

The applicants should possess a minimum of 10 years’ experience in tax and customs administration with a minimum of five years at the executive level.

Applications with a detailed CV should be submitted no later than May 3rd, 2016 to the Head-Human Resources Management Division, Guyana Revenue Authority, 200-201 Camp Street, Georgetown.

Sattaur was let go after he admitted to having breached his oath of office by releasing private taxpayer data, according to Chairman of the GRA Board Rawle Lucas, who said it was among several discoveries that were made.
