Murdered Kato man’s body to be exhumed for autopsy

Arrangements are currently being made to exhume the body of a farmer, who was allegedly shot to death by his nephew a little over a month ago.

This is according to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, who told Stabroek News that a report was only made to the police on Monday.

He said an autopsy would be performed on the remains of Anthony Carryl, 41, who was laid to rest by his relatives on Sunday.

Carryl was reportedly shot on April 7, around 5.30pm at Arasawa Valley, Kato Village, Region 8.

The suspect, his nephew, remains on the run.

Stabroek New understands that Griffith went to Anthony’s house with a shotgun. At the time, Anthony was having dinner with his family and his wife offered Griffith a mug of juice, which the man consumed. After doing so, the suspect allegedly discharged a round in the direction of Anthony, hitting him to the abdomen. He died on the spot and Griffith managed to escape with the now dead man’s licenced firearm.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown.
