The trial of the three accused in the Ramada Princess casino robbery was yesterday put on hold at the request of the lawyer for one of the men.
It is alleged that Wayne Griffith, Junior Stewart and Andrew Blackman, while being in the company of others and armed with guns, robbed cashiers of $8,951,000, which was the property of the Princess Casino on April 29, at Providence, East Bank Demerara.
During yesterday’s proceedings before Magistrate Leron Daly, the prosecution was set to commence trial, with four witnesses slated to give evidence.
However, the trial did not start after attorney Mark Conway, who is representing Stewart, indicated that a potential decision will be made that can affect the trial.
When questioned by the magistrate about the nature of the pending decision, the attorney gave a response that was whispered for the hearing of only the magistrate.
Conway requested seven days to address the matter.
As a result, the matter was adjourned and is set to be heard again on July 28.
