He was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital, where he was in an unconscious state for hours, as doctors worked tirelessly to save him; he later succumbed.

Police initially started to investigate the angle of the child possibly being hit by a jet-ski, as according to persons on the beach, the child was found right after a jet-ski passed by.

The driver of the jet-ski was taken into police custody to assist with the investigation.

Veeren Mootoosammy, the father of the boy, told Stabroek News that he was informed that a jet-skit had hit his son and he was bleeding from the head. However, according to a source at the hospital, when the child was taken to the hospital and examined, there were no external wounds or marks on his body.

Police are waiting on the post-mortem examination to be conducted to assist them with their investigation.

Daniel Mootoosammy was the fifth of his parents’ seven children. His grandmother described him as a “helpful little boy.”
