Herstelling accident victim hopes to be home for Christmas

The family of accident victim Dave Prashad have been told by doctors that he might be home for Christmas.

Prashad was injured in an early morning accident on December 8, on the Herstelling Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

Prashad, 27, of 374, Craig Public Road, was driving to the Dr Balwant Singh Hospi-tal to visit his ailing grandmother when a minibus collided with his vehicle.

Prashad’s sister, Devi told Stabroek News that her brother is recuperating although he is still in the Intensive Care Unit, at the Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital.

She explained that he had undergone surgeries to repair internal injuries and a broken ankle.

According to Devi, her brother has not been able to give the police a detailed statement on the accident. She also disclosed, the family does not know the full story of the accident as yet, and they are more concerned with his recuperation.

Devi had explained to Stabroek News that the driver of the minibus told police that he swerved from an object, and collided with her brother who was travelling on the western carriageway.

When she got to the scene, she observed that her brother’s car was a mangled wreck and he was still pinned inside of it.

The driver of the minibus was taken into custody after the accident and was later released on station bail pending further investigation.
