A 35-year-old construction worker from the East Coast of Demerara took his own life on Monday.
The lifeless body of Vincent Sukhdeo called ‘Leon’ of Lot 105 Dwarka Street, Better Hope, East Coast was found hanging from a ceiling by his mother early Monday morning.
According to Rajmattie Sukhdeo the man’s mother with whom he shared the residence, she had retired to bed on Sunday evening. However, when she woke up to use the washroom the following morning, she found her son hanging.
“He is my only son, and to tell you the reason why he do that I really can’t say,” the woman stated. Adding that her son was always a jovial person who never exhibited any suicidal tendencies.
The dead man’s sister, Patricia Jagnarine also expressed shock at her brother’s actions noting that while her sibling was known for taking his ‘lil drinks’’ he never had any problems.
“Me ain’t think he woulda do something like that, me ain’t know why he gone and do that. He didn’t have any problems, no problems he ain’t got,” the woman lamented.
Sukhdeo leaves to mourn his mother, three sisters and a 12-year-old daughter who currently resides in Barbados. He is expected to be cremated on Sunday.
