Five Slingerz players switching to Alpha

Despite securing the League Genesis title of the inaugural GFF Stag Beer Elite League, Vergenoegen giant Slingerz FC is facing a mass exodus as several Golden Jaguar Internationals have submitted their transfer documentation to Alpha United.

Slingerz FC secured the League Genesis title after defeating arch-rivals Alpha ‘the Hammer’ United by a 3-2 score line in the grand finale at the Leonora Sports Facility.

According to information emanating from the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), five transfer requests have been received by the entity from members of the West Demerara outfit.

The players that have requested a transfer to the Hammers are defenders Colin Nelson, Joshua Browne and Solomon Austin alongside midfielder Dwain Jacobs and veteran forward Anthony Abrams.

Bill Wilson, Coach of the Vergenoegen-based outfit during an invited comment confirmed that transfers of the five aforementioned players have been requested noting “All five of them have gone to Alpha United. They have requested transfers from the club and their transfers are pending”.

Asked the possible reasons for their respective departures, Wilson said “Only they could answer that question because I don’t know. The show has to go on, everywhere in the world players come and players go. I have to do the work as the coach and try and rebuild the team but I have no issues. I am confident we will be strong and can do well”.

He further said “I can assure you that we will still be strong as the key players still remain with the club. Only the coach knows who the key players are, the ones who believe they are the key players are not and the key players the team will be built around them”.

Slingerz FC are not the only Elite team to have lost players to Alpha United as third and fourth place finishers Pele and Fruta Conquerors have lost the services of a combined three players to date.

With regards to Pele, who defeated Fruta Conquerors 1-0 to lay claim to the third spot in the championship, they lost the services of midfielders Quincy Hemmerding and Darren Harris.

On the other hand, the Tucville-based heavyweights with have to make do without the services of capable shot-stopper Alex ‘Scotland Youth’ Murray.

Additionally another boost to the ranks of Alpha United will come in the form of national left-back Chris Camacho who made his return following an extended overseas absence.
