Hercules to attend FIBA workshop in Puerto Rico

Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) President Junior Hercules has been selected by the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) as the country’s representative at an International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Workshop in Puerto Rico from 6th to 8th May, 2016.

“Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) has selected Mr. Junior Hercules to be Guyana’s representative/coordinator in Puerto Rico,” stated a release from the GABF.

“On his return to Guyana; GABF in conjunction with the coordinator will oversee the hosting of two 3*3 Tournaments before November 2016. These national tournaments are for male and female players born on or after January 1, 1999.

“The winning Teams will qualify for an all-expense paid trip to participate in the Caribbean Basketball Confederation 3*3 Under Seventeen (U17) Championships, the coordinator will travel with the teams. Each team will have four players.

“FIBA is promoting and funding a global three-on-three structure that will allow smaller countries to participate in the Olympics; in addition, FIBA expects the 3*3 format to have a significant impact on the development of basketball in countries that do not normally qualify to play in major international tournaments,” the document concluded.
