Guyana ready for Tri-Nation series-GCB

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) yesterday confirmed that all systems are in place ahead of next month’s One Day International (ODI) Tri-Nation series to be played among Australia, South Africa and hosts West Indies.

Guyana will host the first three matches at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence on June 3rd, 5th and 7th and according to the GCB release, preparations for the return of international cricket to local soil after more than three years have been going well.

“This has come at a great time for Guyana as we have not hosted any International matches in two years; and we are celebrating 50 years of Independence,” said the GCB release.

“The wicket at Providence is in great shape while accommodation is ready and the other requirements are falling into place,” the release added.

“The GCB has the capacity to host and we take pride in our execution. We have already established the necessary committees and the point persons have experience with hosting international cricket events. There is collaboration between all entities to ensure that we are all on the same page,” stated the release adding that full support of the Sports and Tourism ministries, coupled with the ongoing Independence celebrations should make for a huge crowd turnout.
