President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Gianni Infantino has congratulated the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and Stag Beer Elite League Champs Slingerz FC for the recently concluded championship.
According to a press release from the GFF, the FIFA chief stated that the league has helped spread the positive message of the sport.
According to the letter dated 28th June, 2016, Infantino stated: “This title is the result of the determination of everyone involved and my congratulations go to the players, the coach, the entire technical and medical staff, and the fans.”
Slingerz FC won the Champion of Champions clash against Alpha United 1 – 0 on June 26 at the National Track and Field Facility, Leonora.
During the two-part Stag Beer Elite League, Slingerz FC won the Genesis League and Alpha United FC won the League Finale.
Based on the rules of the tournament, a decider match was required to decide on an overall winner and that match was won by Slingerz.
