GFF still to pay prize money for elite championship

Despite concluding their Stag Beer Elite League Championship several weeks ago, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has not paid the respective prize monies to the top four finishers.

Director of Public Relations Debra Francis during an invited comment said “We are in the process but don’t have a fixed date as yet. We are working on it, all the processing of cash for the payment of players is being done, to give an exact date, that can’t be done now”.

Alpha United is due to receive $4,000,000 for winning the League Finale section while Slingerz FC is expected to collect $2,000,000 for finishing second.

On the other hand, Fruta Conquerors and Pele are slated to receive $1,000,000 and $500,000 respectively for placing third and fourth.

On another note, the federation has yet to pay the competing players for eight match days during the league aspect of the competition. With $3500 slated to be paid to each player for every match day, this translates to $28,000 that is owed.
