Chase Academy successfully regained the Georgetown North Zone Championship, dismantling the Bishops High 13-0 when the Digicel Schools Football Championship continued yesterday at the Camp Ayanganna ground.
Ryan Hackett top scored in the assault with a helmet trick in the eighth, 14th, 53rd and 70th minute while Kelsey Benjamin recorded a hat-trick in the sixth, 32nd and 64th minute.
Assisting with doubles were Job Caesar in the 30th and 68th minute and Joshua Williams in the 48th and 79th minute. Sealing the result with solo strikes were Stephon Reynolds and Timothy Alberts in the 75th and 76th minute respectively.
With the win, Chase Academy walked away with the winners medals, championship trophy and new team kits. Action in the event is slated to continue tomorrow at the same venue.
The championship which will be played in the traditional knockout format, will be staged in every region and will end on July 31st at the National Stadium at Providence.
Christianburg/Wismar Secondary has held a stranglehold on the event as they are the current four-time defending champions. The other victor was the Government Technical Institute who won the inaugural event. Winner of the event is slated to receive $1,000,000 toward the funding of a school project and the Championship trophy while the second place unit will receive $700,000 and the runners-up accolade.
The third and fourth-placed unit will walk away with $400,000 and $350,000 and the corresponding trophy. Similarly, $100,000 will be awarded to each zone winner.
