Muirhead to step down as WICB CEO

ST.JOHN’S, Antigua,  CMC-Michael Muirhead is stepping down as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), the board has confirmed today.

A WICB statement says Muirhead will not be renewing his contract and will officially demit office on October 14 this year.

The 59-year-old Jamaican, who has been in the role for the last four years, is stepping aside from a position that has changed hands several times over the past decade.

“ The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) would like to announce that Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Michael Muirhead will not be renewing his contract and will officially demit office on October 14 this year,” said the brief statement from WICB.

Sources with knowledge of the WICB operations say there are indications that Muirhead might still be engaged in some other ways by the WICB.

This has led to some speculation that Muirhead might have been pushed out.

Recently, then Chief Selector Clive Lloyd was moved from the post – being given a non-descript assignment, as Courtney Browne was elevated to Chief Selector.

Muirhead describes his time with the organisation as “insightful, challenging, interesting and an eventful period,” the WICB release said.
