Black Pearl upset Western Tigers 3-1

Black Pearl overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat Western Tigers by a 3-1 margin when the Turbo Energy Drink sponsored Fruta Conquerors U19 Academy League continued yesterday.

Trailing 1-0 heading into the second period at the Tucville Community ground, Black Pearl secured the upset result compliments of three unanswered goals.

Falling behind to a 28th minute deflected strike from Rolan Apple, Black Pearl equalised in the form of Trevon Adams in the 50th minute, with a shot to the right side from inside the penalty box.

The lead was then secured 18 minutes onward as Orin Todd found the back of the net, lashing a right foot shot into the roof of the net, after racing into the penalty box.

The result was sealed 10 minutes before the end of normal time, as Todd secured his brace, converting from the penalty spot following an infraction.

Due to the outcome, Black Pearl received three points while the losers from the West Ruimveldt area walked away empty handed. At press time, Santos and Linden unit Botofago were slated to face-off.

The tournament will continue at the same venue on Saturday with another doubleheader.
