Decomposed body of man found at Thomas Lands

The decomposed body of an unidentified man was yesterday afternoon discovered in the empty lot, which once housed the Guyana Sports Club, opposite the National Park, Thomas Lands.

Stabroek News understands that the discovery was made around 5.15 pm by a man who was cutting trees nearby. The man became aware of a foul odour coming from the area and upon checking he saw the decomposed body of a man lying in the grass.

An alarm was raised and the police were summoned.

The body was examined and there were no visible marks of violence.

The man was described as a “smokey” by persons in the area. His body was taken to the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour, where it will await a post-mortem examination.
