Civilian arrested in AK-47 probe

As the probe into the smuggling of an AK-47 rifle out of the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) Compound, Eve Leary continues, police have arrested a civilian.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum yesterday confirmed the arrest and told Stabroek News that investigations are still active. He noted that an Assistant Superintendent of Police and a Corporal, along with others who allegedly smuggled the weapon out of the compound remain under close arrest.

The police have been making checks to determine if the AK-47 was a service weapon.
