Lamaha Park man killed in Hadfield and Smyth sts collision

A Lamaha Park man died yesterday morning after he collided with a van at the intersection of Hadfield and Smyth streets, in Georgetown.

The dead man has been identified as Maurice Moseley, 62, of Lot 35 Lamaha Street, Georgetown, who was a former supervisor at the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI).

Witnesses told Stabroek News that Moseley, who was riding his motorcycle north along Smyth Street, collided with a van that was being driven by a Brazilian national along Hadfield Street.

A police officer said Moseley had the right of way but the van failed to stop, resulting in the collision.

According to family members, Moseley, who was heading to work at Top Brandz Distribution, died on the spot as he suffered severe head injuries. He also broke a hip.

The Brazilian national, who is said to be a leader in the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, was arrested by police.

Daughters of the now deceased man told Stabroek News that their family is still in disbelief and they called for justice. They described their father as a loving, kindhearted and hardworking man.
