Two held over body in shallow grave at Karrau

A businessman and his employee are presently in custody following the discovery of a man in a shallow grave at Karrau Backdam, Mazaruni on Easter Monday.

Stabroek News was reliably informed that the partially decomposed body of Kevin (only name given) called “Finetime” was discovered by a resident who was flying a kite in the area.

The police were immediately summoned. At the time of the discovery, Kevin was wearing a pants and a jersey and his head reportedly bore a gaping wound. A source told this newspaper that an investigation was launched which led to the arrest of the duo.

While information surrounding the incident remains sketchy, this newspaper was told that Kevin left to work with Claimont, who operates a mining camp in the area. They were subsequently imbibing together when Claimont accused him of stealing a quantity of gold from his camp.

As a result, an argument ensued between the trio and Kevin was allegedly chopped several times about his body including to his head.

Investigations are ongoing.
