Taxi driver accused of crystal meth possession

A taxi driver was yesterday granted bail after he denied being in possession of six grammes of the prohibited drug crystal meth.

The courtroom of Magistrate Judy Latchman heard the matter of Gary Taylor, who was read a charge which stated that on August 26, at Hunter and Sussex streets, Albouys-town, he had in his possession six grammes of crystal meth. Taylor denied the charge read to him.

Facts presented by the Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves noted that about 10:30 on the day in question, the police conducted a search on the car driven by the defendant, HC 8069, which led to the discovery of six transparent plastic bags in a light pink bag on the defendant’s lap. At the time of the search, a female passenger was in the front seat of the vehicle.

Magistrate Latchman later granted the accused $50,000 bail. His next court appearance will be on September 13 before Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
