Trio to stand trial for Greenwich Park New Year’s murder

The three men accused of murdering Dewaun Anthony Baksh at Greenwich Park, East Bank Essequibo, last year, have been committed to stand trial in the High Court.

The men, Rocky Lalu, Dhanraj Goberdhan, and Abdool Hussain were on Monday committed to stand trial by Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool at the conclusion of the preliminary inquiry into the charge at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.

The accused had been charged since January of 2016.

Baksh, 22, of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, was stabbed to death during an altercation with a group of men on January 1, 2016.

He sustained injuries to his neck and other parts of his body along with a gaping wound to his left shoulder.

A post-mortem examination showed that he died from shock and haemorrhage due to five stab wounds inflicted by three different weapons.
