A 27-year-old worker of Gafoor’s succumbed at a private hospital on Sunday evening, more than two weeks after he was involved in an accident while performing his duties.
Dead is Damian Lackhan called ‘Sachin’ and ‘Bush’ of Lot 22 New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.
While the details surrounding the incident remain sketchy, Stabroek News understands that Lackhan was carrying out his usual duties at the company’s Houston, East Bank Demerara bond when a gate fell on him.
He sustained severe injuries and was taken to the Woodlands Hospital where he remained a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) until Sunday evening when he died.
Contacted last evening, Lackhan’s sister declined to comment on the incident. Lackhan who was cremated yesterday leaves to mourn his parents and three sisters.
