GYO, Blairmont notch up wins

Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) defeated the Transport Sports Club (TSC) by four wickets last Friday evening at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) in the Well Teen, Trophy Stall, Tropical Springs & Nauth Motor Spares day/night Under-13 cricket competition.

Zinul Ramsammy and Jaden Trotz, right after their innings of 52 not out and 31 respectively.

Transport Sports Club which won the toss and batted, made 65 all out off their allotted 20 overs with Riyad Latiff and Jonathan Barton top scoring with seven runs each.

Extras, however, contributed a healthy 35 runs.

Bowling for GYO, Danesh Persaud took 4 for 20 while Dilshan Roopnarine had 2 for 10.

GYO, in reply, reached the required target of 66 in the 18th over.

Mavindra Dindyal top scored with 33.

Bowling for TSC, Alvin Mohabir Took 2 for 15.

Meanwhile, on Saturday evening, Blairmont Cricket Club defeated the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) by 11 runs at the same venue. DCC won the toss and invited Blairmont to take the first strike. They posted a competitive 157 for 3 from 25 overs with Zinul Ramsammy scoring 52 not out. He was supported by Jaden Trotz’s unbeaten knock of 31 while Shakir Saffie contributed 20.

Romeo Deonarain bowling for DCC took 3 for 18 from five overs which included two maidens. DCC in reply reached 146/7 with Inderjeet Nanan stroking 50.

A. Sookra (3-2), J Trotz (2-7) and Z. Ramsammy (1-5) bowled impressively for Blairmont. Zinul Ramsammy was named Man of the Match. The competition continues this weekend after Sunday’s match between Everest and GCC failed to come off after Everest requested the match be rescheduled.
