Williams, Samuels net hat tricks as Jermaine and Family win

Defending champs Team 25, Amelia Ward Russians, Dave and Celina All-Stars and Jermaine and Family Silver Bullets all won their matches when the sixth Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Linden edition commenced Sunday.

Staged at the Mackenzie Market Tarmac, Team 25 downed South Stars 3-1. Tevin Crawford, Teon Stewart and Ryan Noel scored in the second, sixth and 12th minute respectively. For South Stars, Steve Lancaster netted in the 14th minute.

In another fixture, Jermaine and Family dismantled High Stars 6-1. Damian Williams recorded a hat-trick in the fourth, 12th and 14th minute, while Jermaine Samuels netted three times in the 11th, 17th and 18th minute.

On target in the loss was Michael Henry in the 11th minute. Meanwhile Amelia’s Ward Russians brushed aside Constab 3-1.

Shawn Daniels bagged a brace in the seventh and 19th minute whilst an own goal added to the score in the 18th minute. Samuel Gilbert scored in the eight minute in the loss.

Dave and Celina All-Stars edged Ripping Bullets 3-2 on penalty kicks after normal time ended 1-1. Jonathan Frederick gave Ripping Bullets the lead in the sixth minute. Keon Sears equalised for the eventual winner two minutes onward.

In other results, Main Street Panthers mauled Unknowns 3-1. Kevin Kennedy, Keshawn Dey and Osea Waddell netted in the seventh, 10th and 13th minute apiece. An own goal in the 16th minute was recorded for the loser. Similarly, Dreamchasers edged Speightland 1-0 through a Wayne Milo strike in the 14th minute. Also, Eagles edged High Life 2-1 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended scoreless, while High Rollers squeaked past Silvertown 3-2 on sudden death penalty kicks, following a 0-0 score at the end of normal time. Meeting the teams before the commencement of the event were Banks DIH Outdoor Event Manager Mortimer Stewart, Shondel Easton, Linden Branch Manager and Shawn Grant, Linden Branch Supervisor.

The event resumes today at the same venue with another eight fixtures. Goal Getters will oppose Good Fellas while Ariama Colo Colo will engage Future Stars and Hardknocks will tackle Cherokee Park.

Meanwhile, Mile Star will battle Coomacka while Amazings will lock horns with Bourda All-Stars and Attackers will match skills with Young Lions. The final two matches will pit Running Guns against Trainline Warriors and Swag Entertainment against Magic Stars.

Winner of the event will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy while the runners-up will collect $150,000 and the corresponding accolade. The third and fourth place finishers will walk away with $75,000 and $50,000 apiece and the respective trophy.
