Local ruggers whip B/dos 34-26

Guyana’s 2017 Rugby America’s North (RAN) 15s campaign got off to a positive start yesterday at the Garrison Savannah with a 34-26 victory over host, Barbados.

A hat trick of tries by Richard Staglon, a brace by Vallon Adams along with a try by new addition to the team, Ahmad Isaacs and two conversions off the right boot of Rickford Cummings put paid to the efforts of the burly Bajans.

The 2014 NACRA 15’s champions will now look ahead to facing arch rivals Trinidad on June 10 in a home game. Skipper, Ryan Gonsalves told this publication yesterday that the Bajans brought the fight to the national outfit which will need to smooth out some wrinkles especially on the defensive end if they are to be victories against the Soca Ruggers.

The team dubbed ‘The Green Machine’ will return home tomorrow.
