‘Stripped’ Brittany Singh responds

Former Miss India Guyana Brittany Singh has denied that she breached any of her contractual agreements with the organisers of the pageant and claims that it was she who decided to return the crown, but her attempt was rejected and the organisers later chose to strip her of the crown.

In a statement in response to the one issued by the organisers announcing that she was dethroned because of three contractual breaches, Brittany denied the allegations saying that the organisers had levelled against her, “unfounded and heinous accusations of improper conduct, soliciting funds from sponsors, friends and associates of the organisation, and improper relationships with members in the organisation.”

In the statement she outlined that after rigorous preparation she was crowned Miss India Guyana 2016 and Miss India Worldwide Photogenic but soon after she won those prizes she began to notice relationship differences between herself and persons within the Miss India Guyana Organization. “…More specifically Ms Umadevi Bux, the National Director and Mr Vitesh Guptar, the local representative [franchise holder] of the Miss India Guyana Organization,” the statement said. The differences, she said, widened over the months.

Denying all the allegations levelled against her, Brittany said the only infraction she may have committed was a small hidden tattoo as there were no other physical changes to her body or facial features.

She also said that she was never disrespectful to anyone within or outside of the organisation and had never been warned by representatives of organisation as was said in last week’s statement.

The former Miss India Guyana also stated that because of irreconcilable differences she decided to sever the relationship with the organisation by way of resignation on November 16, 2016, but her resignation was rejected by representatives.

Instead the Miss India Guyana Organisation invoked the arbitration clause 6.12 of the governing contract and chose to send her a letter dated November 22, 2016, through the law firm of Fraser, Housty & Yearwood terminating the contract with immediate effect.

“I find this attempt preposterous, especially since the reason cited in clause 4.8 and 6.7.2 refers to a breach of the code of conduct based on the ‘exclusive judgment’ by ‘local representative’,” Brittany said. She added that she still remains a stranger to the real reason why her contract was terminated.

Brittany also relayed that on Thursday at her attorney’s office she returned the crown and all other relevant items to the Miss India Guyana Organisation. The former queen said that this ‘episode’ would not impede her living her life with dignity and pride.
