Bus driver remanded on armed robbery, illegal firearm charges

A 22-year-old bus driver, accused of armed robbery and illegal firearm possession, was yesterday remanded to prison by a city court, after he denied the charges.

It was alleged that Philbert McPherson, on April 20th, at Eve Leary, had in his possession a .32 pistol without being the holder of a firearm licence.

It was further alleged that McPherson, on April 25th, while armed with a gun, robbed Jagdeo Ramnauth of a Samsung Galaxy smartphone valued at $160,000, a black leather wallet valued at $15,000, $50,000 cash and other items, all amounting to $246,000.

McPherson denied both charges.

Magistrate Fabayo Azore remanded the accused and adjourned the matter to May 30th.
