RHT Gizmos and Gadgets face Albion in Patron’s Cup final

The curtain will come down on the Berbice Cricket Board/ Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club’s Patron’s Cup 10/10 tournament with Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets taking on Albion tomorrow under lights.

Gizmos and Gadgets joined Albion in the final after defeating Blairmont Community Center Club by 27 runs at Port Mourant last week.

Blairmont won the toss and decided to field as Clinton Pestano stroked 41 to see Gizmos and Gadgets reach 96-6 from their allotted overs. Kevin Sinclair and Eon Hooper made valuable cameos of 12 and 15 respectively but Pestano’s innings set the tone. He  scored 26 runs from one over from Nigel Deodat. Kevin Jawahir bagged 2-9 with left arm spinner Parmanand Ramdhan claiming 2-6.

In the chase, Blairmont were restricted to 69-6 with Pestano and Sinclair returning to take a pair of wickets each along with Sylus Tyndall. Seon Glasgow and Imran Khan managed 14 each as the only double figure scorers.

The final and third place will both be played under lights at Albion with Rose Hall Canje taking on Blairmont for the third place bowling off from 16.00hrs.

Blairmont, led by Shabeer Baksh, will be spearheaded by Glasgow, Deodat, Marvin, Prashad, Khan and Ramdhan while Rose Hall Canje who are making a return to the first division after a long break will be spearheaded by Ameer Rahaman, Sasenarine Sukhdeo, Mark Sampson, Balram Samaroo and Gregory Crandon.

Albion Community Centre will be led by Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai and includes Jonathan Foo, Kevin Umroa, Ritesh Umroa, Antonio February and Karran Arjpaul. The Shawn Pereira-led Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets side should  include Clinton Pestano, Eon Hooper, Kevin Sinclair, Kevlon Anderson, Junior Sinclair and Keith Simpson. The final would be played under lights, starting at 18.30 hours.

The winning team will take home $150 000.00 and the Patron’s Cup while the Berbice Cricket

Board will hand out $75 000.00, $50 000.00 and $25 000.00 respectively for 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.

The tournament was organised by the BCB in recognition of the Patron of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS His Excellency, President David Granger. Representatives of the President are expected to be present to hand over the prizes.
