Ravens captures 1st Division basketball championship

Ravens secured the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association [GABA] 1st Division Championship, defeating fierce rival Pacesetters 83-75 on Thursday at the Burnham Court, Middle and Carmichael streets.

Tyrone Hamid led the winner with 24 points, with Sebastian Luke and Ryan Stephney the next best scorers with 18 and 17 points respectively.

Adding an invaluable 15 points was Dominic Vicente. Locked at 19-19 at the end of the first period, Ravens seized control of the contest, outscoring the home side 23-12 to lead 42-31 heading into the halftime interval.

The hosts fought back in the pivotal third stanza, scoring 25 points, while reducing Ravens to 14 points to level the score at 56-56 entering the final period.

Nevertheless, Ravens secured the coveted title, tallying an impressive 27 points to Pacesetters 17 points.

For the loser, Nathan Saul battled to 20 points, with Dave Causway closely following on 19 points. Stephon Gillis and Jermaine Hamilton chipped in with seven and six points apiece.

Meanwhile in the third place playoff, Plaisance Guardians downed Kobras 68-60 in the third place playoff.
