‘Democracy prevailed’ in National Assembly debate – private sector

The Private Sector Commission (PSC) has registered its satisfaction that “democracy prevailed” in the National Assembly on Friday, with the debate of the no-confidence motion moved against the government.

The PSC, in a release yesterday, urged leaders to “continue to respect and honour the highest principles of democratic government and the maintenance of law and order which our nation has embraced”. Furthermore, it encouraged Guyanese to be proud of the recent development and what it signifies.

“The Private Sector Commission expects that the nation will now properly prepare itself for a peaceful, free and fair election going forward”, the release said.

It was noted that a team of representatives from the PSC, led by Captain Gerry Gouveia, was present at Friday’s debate.
