Cohesion could become a reality if the PPP and PNC make drastic changes in their leadership

Dear Editor,

2019 could be the watershed moment in the history of this country if the main political parties make some drastic changes.

I was part of the crowd looking at the large screen outside the Public Buildings as the debate raged. I observed the passion of the speakers as they reasoned why the vote of no-confidence should be a ‘No’ or ‘Yes’. The government has fallen but there is some good news for the Guyanese nation.

All this talk about ‘cohesion’, ‘multi-racial party’, ‘people’s party’ could bear fruit if the two gargantuan outfits – the PPP and PNC – could make drastic changes in their leadership. The PPP could choose an African as their leader and the PNC, an Indian. I suggest Bishop Juan Edghill as the PPP Presidential candidate and Moses Nagamootoo for the PNC.

Just imagine!

Yours faithfully,
