Venezuelan remanded on armed robbery charge

A Venezuelan national accused of committing armed robbery, was remanded to prison after being charged for the crime at a city court.

The charge alleged that on December 14, at Kumaka, North West, Asdrobal Gonzalez Berio, accompanied by others and armed with a gun, robbed Elroy Bisnauth of a Yamaha Engine, valued $240,000 and a cellphone valued $10,000.

Berio, who has no identifying documents, nor fixed placed of abode, was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

The matter is adjourned until February 19, 2019, when a hearing is to be held at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s court.
