Dear Editor,

Dave Martins’ marvellous column on Sunday captures a great and fundamental truth about how we all should live and work.

It reminded me of something I read about another great golfer ‒Arnold Palmer. He was asked what he thought made him one of the greats in his sport; was it his drive, his iron play, his putting on the green, was it perhaps his superb fitness and athleticism? Palmer thought a while and then replied, “ Desire”; “It was the desire”.

Yours faithfully,

Ian McDonald
