(Field Level Media) Stephen Curry buried a tie-breaking 3-pointer with three seconds remaining Wednesday night, allowing the visiting Golden State Warriors to survive a frantic Dallas Mavericks rally for a 125-122 victory.
Stephen Curry (32), Kevin Durant (25) and Klay Thompson (25) all topped 20 points as the Warriors (30-8) beat the Mavericks (13-26) for the ninth straight time while winning their eighth in a row on the road, matching the second-longest road streak in the NBA this season.
The Warriors can tie the season-high of nine, set by the Boston Celtics, when they visit the Houston Rockets, who are without James Harden, on the second night of a back-to-back Thursday.
After trailing 120-110 with 2:46 to play, the Mavericks rallied into a tie by scoring 10 straight, including 3-pointers by Yogi Ferrell and Wesley Matthews.
Harrison Barnes’ 15-footer with 39 seconds remaining forged a 120-all deadlock.
Thompson converted a Durant assist into a layup to put Golden State back up by two with 24 seconds remaining, before Barnes, the former Warrior, set up Curry’s dramatics with a tying layup with 12 seconds left.
Dennis Smith Jr.’s desperation 40-footer at the buzzer was off the mark.
Curry was playing for just the second time since an 11-game absence due to a sprained ankle. He exploded for 38 points in his return to the court Saturday against Memphis.
Draymond Green, who was disqualified from the Warriors’ last game after drawing two technical fouls in the second quarter, had an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double for Golden State, which had beaten Dallas by 30 and 15 points earlier this season.
Durant also finished with 11 rebounds.
Matthews had 22 points and Dwight Powell 21 for the Mavericks, who began the night on a four-game winning streak, equaling their longest since April of 2016.
Matthews hit seven 3-pointers in the game as Dallas outscored Golden State 57-39 from beyond the arc.
Barnes (18), Smith (14), J.J. Barea (13), Dirk Nowitzki (12) and Ferrell (11) also scored in double figures for the Mavericks, who went 8-8 in December.
Curry had 15 of his 32 points in the first quarter, helping Golden State go up 35-26 by period’s end.
The Warriors led by as many as 12 before the Mavericks rallied to within 67-61 at halftime, using 11 second-quarter points from Dwight Powell as a springboard.
