GNIC take first innings points against GDF

The Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) took the upper hand on the first day of the Noble House Seafoods two-day second division competition bowling out the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) for just 123 in 43.4 overs while closing play at 162 for 3 at Camp Ayanganna yesterday.

Off-spinner Gajanand Suknanan picked up 6-20.

GDF, batting first, saw openers Leon Andrews (6) and Kevin Sinclair (8) falling cheaply.

Wicketkeeper, Dexter Solomon and Randy Lindore both failed to score while Damion Waldron only managed four. Damien Ross was the top scorer with 50.

In reply, GNIC lost Javon Collins for a golden duck but Ovid Richardson and David Dick pushed the score to 84 before both fell for 36 and 38 runs respectively.

Richardson faced all but 15 balls for his quick-fire 36 dispatching seven boundaries while Dick managed five.

Ryan Shaw hammered five fours and two sixes on his way to an unbeaten 60 while Brian Sookdeo was 18 not out at close of play.
