TALLINN, Estonia, CMC – Well-travelled Bermudian footballer Roger Lee has signed for Estonian top-flight club JK Tallinna Kalev.
The 27-year-old defender accepted the terms of a deal on Friday to play for the club next season.
Lee follows in the footsteps of fellow defender Danté Leverock, the Bermuda captain, who played for Estonian club Narva Trans last season before joining top-flight Irish club Sligo Rovers last week. “Delighted to have signed with @JKTallinnaKalev for the 2019 season,” Lee wrote on his social media site.
The deal comes four months after he completed a two-week trial at Kalev.
He was among a number of players who impressed during Pro Soccer Consulting’s (PSC) Baltic summer showcase events.
Lee, whose father and nephew are club coaches in Bermuda, joined Kalev from English non-League side Loughborough Dynamo, a Leicestershire-based outfit.
Lee is the third Bermudian to be signed after attending a PSC showcase event this year, following Bermuda team-mates Leverock and midfielder Willie Clemons, who plays for Swedish second division side Bodens BK.
Lee has played for a string of clubs on both sides of the Atlantic, including the now-disbanded Bermuda Hogges, who played in the fourth tier of American soccer, as well as Indianapolis Greyhounds while he was studying at the University of Indianapolis.
Apart from Loughborough Dynamo, Lee has also played in England for Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon Town, Rugby Town, Stamford, Basford United, Corby Town and Stafford Rangers.
Lee has represented Bermuda 12 times, without scoring, after making his international debut in 2008 in a CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifying match against Antigua and Barbuda.
