Police force meets residents of four East Coast villages

Dear Editor,

A delegation from the Guyana Police Force ‘C’ Division on  Thursday held a meeting with residents of Two Friends, Ann’s Grove, Clonbrook and Dochfour Villages on the East Coast of Demerara.

The meeting which saw over one hundred persons attending was held in Clonbrook and was spearheaded by Assistant Superintendent Khemraj Shivbarran with assistance from Inspector Gavin John, W/Inspector Hatty Anthony and W/Corporal Veronica Calder.

The team listened to the residents’ issues and concerns and assured them that those will be looked into.

Some of the concerns of the residents are as follows:-

1) Youths committing robberies at Hope turn and access road to Clonbrook

2) Gambling at street corners

3) Youths involved in the smoking of narcotics

4) Market being used for prostitution, harbouring thieves, selling of narcotics and blocking of roadways

5) Stealing of vegetables, fruits and other produce

6) More frequent police patrols

The residents were informed that the initiative would be one of continuity in order to foster better relationships between the Guyana Police Force and the public.

Meanwhile on February 8, 2019, Commander ‘C’ Division, Senior Superintendent Calvin Brutus and his Administrative team met with residents of Plaisance/Goedverwagting, E.C.D, during a visit to that community.

The Commander and team during that visit, interacted with residents where he pledged to look into their concerns.

Yours faithfully,

Jairam Ramlakhan
