Accused in Mash Day stick up gets bail

A mason was on Tuesday placed on $100,000 after denying robbing a woman at gunpoint on Mashramani day.

It is alleged that Tondra Murray, 24, while being in the company of others and armed with a gun, robbed Simone Persaud of  $20,000 in cash on February 23rd, 2019, at Anira Street, Georgetown.

The father of two pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read to him by the Chief Magistrate in Georgetown.

Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield objected to bail being granted to Murray because of the seriousness of the offence.

The court heard that Murray was arrested by Persaud’s son when he was about to make his escape.

Murray was asked to post $100,000 bail for his release and the matter was adjourned until March 1st, 2019. Murray was also told to report to the Alberttown Police Station every Friday until the completion of his trial.
