Former national football captain urges support for Jaguars

Guyana’s first World Cup football team captain, Maurice ‘Cabio’ Enmore is urging fans of the sport to come out and support the National team when they confront Belize at the Leonora Park today.

Yesterday ‘Cabio’ handed over 10 tickets for today’s match to two teams from the East Ruimveldt Community where he grew up and honed his football talents after coming to Georgetown from Golden Fleece on the Essequibo Coast, at the age of seven.

The former midfield maestro, who also led Santos FC in the 1970s and early 1980s is among the several Guyanese to have also represented a Caribbean All-star selection and yesterday before handing over three tickets to the youth side of Eastveldt FC he informed the players that is was the said East Ruimveldt Community ground where he began his career. He also stressed the importance of school to the youngsters and urged them to be dedicated to the game before handing over the tickets to Coach Lloyd Smith.

Enmore, who has been residing in the USA over the last two decades also made a stop at the Back Circle playing park where he presented seven tickets to the road-ball side.
