New cricket selection policy feels like liberation

Dear Editor,

I had almost given up hope of seeing or hearing these words out of the mouth of West Indian cricket authorities: “We have terminated the old embedded selection policy which secretly, but actively, victimized some players and banished them from selection consideration”.

“We are immediately implementing the new policy of having the best West Indies team selected based on availability, form and fitness”.

Even if we never win another game I feel liberated from the vindictiveness and thoughtlessness that were reflected in our selection policy for approximately the last decade.   It is like the dawn of the age of enlightenment.

Thanks to Mr Skerritt and his band of liberators.

Yours faithfully,

Romain Pitt
