Non Pareil woman granted $50,000 bail on fraudulent conversion charge

A young Non Pareil mother was granted bail yesterday, after she was brought before a city court to be charged with fraudulent conversion of a gold chain.

Diana Vickam, a 20-year-old mother of Lot 1 Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara, was yesterday charged with the fraudulent conversion of a gold chain worth $120,000, property of Maurice Charran.

It was alleged that Vickam was entrusted by Charran to keep and safely return the jewellery on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, however, she used it for her own benefit.

Vickam, who is the mother of a 3 –year-old, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and was granted $50,000 bail.

She was also mandated to report to the Vigilance Police Station every Friday at 9 am, a condition the prosecutor requested be attached to bail.

The matter was adjourned until June 5.
