One-time national footballer Jobe Caesar was yesterday sentenced to six months behind bars after being found guilty of wounding a police officer.

Caesar was on trial before Georgetown Magistrate Dylon Bess on a charge which alleged that on September 3rd, 2018, at East Ruimveldt, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Terry Joseph.

At the conclusion of his trial yesterday, Ceasar heard that the court was satisfied with the evidence led by the prosecution and therefore found him guilty of the crime. He was subsequently sentenced to six months in prison.

Police had said that on the day in question, Joseph, who is a Police Corporal, went to the home of his girlfriend and saw the woman in the arms of the accused. Caesar, it was claimed, attacked the officer and dealt him a punch to his face. He was also accused of snatching the officer’s service revolver and pointing it at him.
