Contracts awarded for road works in four regions

Multi-million dollar contracts have been awarded for the upgrade and rehabilitation of more than a dozen roads in regions 2, 5 and 6 as well as in Bartica in Region 7.

Director-General of the Ministry of the Presidency Joseph Harmon recently said that Cabinet noted the award of the contracts by procurement agencies. These contracts were awarded under the Ministry of Communities.

According to Harmon, in Region 5, five contracts were awarded: Shereaz Bacchus General Contractor was awarded a $22.6 million contract for the construction of Revetment & General Rehabilitation of Semple Street; a $14.4 million contract was awarded to Golden Splash Construction Service for general rehabilitation works to Saga Street, Bath Settlement; Sideline Dam, Onderneeming will be rehabilitated by Romel Jagroop General Construction Service at a cost of $12.01 million; general rehabilitation of Eastern Sideline Dam, Belladrum, will be done to the tune of $13.97 million by Shereaz Bacchus General Contractor; and Health Centre Street, Ithaca, will be upgraded by Golden Splash Construction Service, following the award of a $15.89 million contract.

Additionally, B & J Civil Works was awarded a $57.6 million contract for the rehabilitation and upgrade of roads at Four Miles, Bartica. With regards to Region 2, Harmon said contracts totalling just over $68 million in value were awarded for the rehabilitation/construction of roads. Vish Turbo Contracting was awarded a $19.6 million contract for Nursery School Road, Richmond Housing Scheme; Mohamed Ramzanalli Khan won a $22.03 million contract for Sideline Dam, Henrietta; while Mohamed Fawaaz Bacchus Construction & Transportation Services will be executing works on Main Street, Charity New Housing Scheme (including link to public road) to the value of $26.33 million.

Harmon disclosed that Region 6 will benefit from $136.4 million in road works.Bristol Street, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam is to be rehabilitated by Handel Garnett Construction Firm following the award of an $18.7 million contract. The firm was also awarded a $35.7 million contract for Levi Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam.Dennis Tahal Engineering won a $22.3 million contract for the rehabilitation of Lucas Street, Corriverton.B & J Civil Works has been awarded two contracts in the region. The first is valued $25.8 million for Patrick Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, while the second is for Second Cross Street, Rose Hall and is valued $33.8 million.
