Senior airport manager on leave pending police investigation into sexual misconduct

Management of the Cheddi Jagan Inter-national Airport (CJIA), has announced that a senior manager has proceeded on leave due to the commencement of a police investigation into an allegation of sexual misconduct made this week.

The CJIA noted that the allegation is almost a year old and was previously investigated by airport management but no evidence was found for further action to be pursued. They related that the complainant, the employee of an airport concessionaire, has also had their airport security credentials withdrawn pending the police investigation.

“CJIA remains committed to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and all persons who work at and use the airport. In light of the recent incident, steps are being taken to strengthen the existing protocols,” management assured.
